The Haliburton County Development Corporation (a CFDC) is a local, not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. With financial assistance from the Government of Canada through FedDev Ontario, we offer a variety of products and services to promote small business growth, and community economic development.

 The Summer Company online application deadline has been extended for applicants from Haliburton County submitted through the Haliburton Creative Business Incubator. 

 The Summer Company program (funded by the Government of Ontario) provides students aged 15-29 the opportunity to plan and operate their own summer business. Students are eligible for up to $3000 in start-up funding and on-going mentorship throughout the summer. Popular Summer Companies include landscaping, photography, painting, carpentry, grass-cutting, computer repair, swimming lessons and the list goes on.  The business idea is up to you.

Funding for Training

 Canada-Ontario Job Grant:

 Canada-Ontario Job Grant (the Job Grant) provides an opportunity for employers to invest in their workforce, with help from the government.

The Job Grant will provide direct financial support to individual employers who wish to purchase training for their employees. It will be available to small, medium and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees, and will:

  • Provide up to $10,000 in government support per person for training costs.
  • Require employers to contribute one-third of the total costs. There will be additional flexibility for small businesses to provide an in-kind contribution towards their share of the costs.
  • Require training to be delivered by an eligible, third-party trainer.
