HCDC Committees

To ensure that HCDC operates in a manner that accurately reflects the development needs and desires of the community, important decisions are made by a number of committees that are comprised of HCDC staff, board members, and community members. 

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of 6 Directors; the past Chairperson, Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary Treasurer, Investment Committee Chairperson and the Community Economic Development Chairperson. They provide guidance to the general manager on the preparation of the annual budget and work plan, implementation of the strategic plan, community relations and hiring of staff. They provide recommendations to the Board of Directors on the establishment of policies; the development of the strategic plan; and provide fiduciary oversight for the organization and evaluate the general manager’s activities.

The Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) Committee

The EODP Committee is made up of 5 members of the Board of Directors and 4 other community members. The committee works to support initiatives for community economic development in Haliburton County and makes recommendations to the board of directors on CED priorities. The EODP Committee has the responsibility for reviewing and approving applications for the Community Innovation & Business Development funding programs.

Investment Committee

The Investment Committee is made up of members of the Board of Directors who meet once a month to review loan applications. The Investment Committee reports to the Board of Directors on the analysis and disposition of loans within HCDC in accordance with the Board policy. The Investment Committee evaluates loan applications and approves loans for business and social enterprises operating in Haliburton County and is also responsible for reviewing and approving applications for the Business Planning Initiative and the Access to Capital program.

Creative Business Incubator Committee

The Creative Business Incubator Committee is made up of local volunteers and three HCDC board members. The primary initiative of the committee is the Haliburton County Business Incubator which focuses on nurturing small entrepreneurial, owner run, and, creative businesses during the critical early phase of their development.

Creative Economy Committee

The Creative Economy Committee is comprised of seven board members who work towards building initiatives that create awareness and encourage business and entrepreneurship through the Creative Economy in Haliburton County.

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee consists of a maximum of four Directors including the Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, Chair of the Investment Committee, and one other member appointed by the Executive committee. This committee gathers prior to the annual general meeting or as required with the auditor of the Corporation, without management or staff present, to discuss any items that may be of concern to the financial operation of the Corporation's accounts.

Advisory & Mentoring Committee

The Advisory & Mentoring Committee consists of Directors and community representatives who are seasonsed business professionals.  The committee meets monthly with clients who are in need of business advice, in some cases mentorship would result.

Green Committee

The Green Committee consists of Directors and community representatives who support businesses to implement green technologies, work with local municipalities and to co-ordinate and promote local initatives
