Our Program

Haliburton has a strong entrepreneurial community and is a hive of creative activity.  We think these are some compelling reasons for people to want to make Haliburton their home:

  • The natural beauty of our region attracts thousands of visitors each year, every season of the year.
  • Haliburton is renowned for the wide range of cultural and artistic events that are available to residents and visitors alike.
  • The bustle of the village is in close proximity to the tranquility of our lakes and forests.
  • Haliburton is home to a year-round campus of Fleming College and the Haliburton School of The Arts.

We believe we have something very appealing to emerging businesses.  You’ll find large numbers of people who are active in creative and intellectual pursuits and they achieve amazing results in a delightfully informal style.

The Creative Business Incubator program, in Haliburton Village, is focused on nurturing small entrepreneurial, owner run, creative businesses during the critical early phase of their development. Selected participants are enrolled for a period of two years, with a third year option (and on approval), after which they will advance from the program.  It is our hope that those completing the program will have found a perfect home for their business or professional practice and their future success.

The program consists of

  • Professional, affordable workspace
  • Experienced business mentors
  • Networking opportunities
  • HCDC based services
  • High speed internet connection at no cost (wireless)

The Haliburton Creative Business Incubator is a program guided and funded, in part, by the Haliburton County Development Corporation.

The purpose of this pilot project is to attract and nurture new creative businesses to the community of Haliburton. We will create opportunities for the private, not-for profit and public sectors and encourage collaboration in building a diverse creative economy. All this will add to the vibrancy of the community.

This project is supported by extensive research and the development work. This information guided the efforts for the “first stage” Creative Business Incubator, including the creation of the management model; policies and procedures; identification of a site and funding sources. It is our hope that this research and development work will also provide the groundwork for the future expansion of the Creative Business Incubator program.
