HCDC is Haliburton County's Community Futures Development Corporation
In Ontario there are 60 Community Future Development Corporations (CFDCs). Each CFDC offers free business counselling, flexible and repayable loans for new and existing small and medium sized businesses, strategic planning on local projects and community economic development in rural areas. CFDC offices are locally managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, primarily comprised of business people within their own communities.
From the outside it may seem like our offices are the same as many lenders and business development agencies. The truth is we are very different. Our members understand small business in rural Ontario like no one else. We live and work in the communities that you do, and know that rural communites thrive when small businesses do.
We care about your success.
Getting Involved
HCDC is able to have the impact this we do with support of our large volunteer team of community members. We recruit annually for new board members and committee members. Here are some ways you can get involved:
- Business Support: Support local business owners by providing your expertise and time to help them grow. If you have experience in a specific industry or are interested in supporting entrepreneurs, we want to hear from you!
- Board Members: Apply to join the Board of Directors to help guide the strategic future of HCDC. We seek out new members each summer and terms of office begin in October at our AGM.
- Committees: There are two committees: Community Economic Development (CED) and Incubator. The CED Committee provides guidance to our work with not for profits and community issues, as well as assessing applications to the Local Initiatives Program funding. The Incubator Committee offers oversight to the operation of the Haliburton County Business Incubator and related programming. Apply to join one of our committees as a community representative. We seek out new members each summer and terms of office begin in October at our AGM.
