New funding for Not For Profits is constantly evolving. At HCDC we monitor as many channels as possible and list relevant funding to support community economic development in our community.
The Regional Tourism Relief Fund – Ontario’s Highlands (RTRF-Ontario’s Highlands) is an application-based program funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). This fund will help facilitate the recovery and long-term growth of the tourism economy within the region, supporting tourism stakeholder investment into experience development, experience enhancement, and destination development programs.
Eligible applicants and projects successfully awarded will be funded based on non-repayable contributions of up to $100,000 for up to 50% of eligible costs for for-profit incorporated businesses and up to 100% of eligible costs for not-for-profit incorporated organizations.
Applications now open until May 15, 2022.
Community Investment: Capital Grant (Ontario Trillium Foundation): Capital grants provide funding over one year to help organizations respond to the capital needs of Ontario’s communities. They support projects that:
- Improve access to community spaces, programs, activities and services, and facilitate community members’ full participation in the life of the community
- Improve and build community spaces
- Make programs better and more efficient
- Make better use of technology
Minimum $5000, Maximum $150,000
Deadline: August 3, 2022
Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund: This Fund (OCAF) has three aims: (1) to increase cultural tourism by providing investments to assist Ontario organizations to develop, promote and present one- off or first time events, or a significant expansion of existing activity, which are designed to attract new tourists and visitors to cultural events; (2) increase the earned revenue capability of the applicant organization; and (3) support events that foster economic growth and contribute to job creation. OCAF achieves this by providing up front working capital directed towards the applicant’s marketing and promotional costs, with the investment taking the form of a partially repayable loan. There is a two step application process and the site suggests an 8 month lead time for any events.
Tourism Relief Fund
Administered by Canada's regional development agencies and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), supports tourism businesses and organizations to adapt their operations to meet public health requirements while investing in products and services to facilitate their future growth. This fund will position Canada to be a destination of choice when domestic and international travel is once again safe by:
- empowering tourism businesses to create new or enhance existing tourism experiences and products to attract more local and domestic visitors; and
- helping the sector reposition itself to welcome international visitors by providing the best Canadian tourism experiences we have to offer the world.
